Following a successful career as a commissioned officer in the Royal Navy, Alec read ‘Risk, Disaster and Resilience ‘at UCL where he discovered a legitimate way of combining his love of all things bicycles with resilience building, social change and empowerment.
As the Development Director for World Bicycle Relief UK, Alec now works as part of a small global team helping people for whom walking is the primary mode of transportation, where everyday tasks can quickly become a struggle against time and fatigue. In those communities where going to school, visiting the health clinic or delivering goods to market are more challenging because of the barrier of distance, World Bicycle Relief provides simple, robust and purpose-built bicycles.
