Camcycle Social Picnic Ride to Great Shelford

Cambridge Station

Join Camcycle’s social ride and picnic as we launch our annual, month-long Festival of Cycling.

A group of people on a Camcycle social ride

We will be meeting at Cambridge Railway Station (to the right of the main building) to depart at 11am and taking a leisurely, scenic ride along the Busway and DNA paths to Great Shelford Recreation Ground. Bring friends, family and a picnic with you and relax with us in the park or by the river.

A guided ride will return along the same route at 2pm, but you are free to make your own way home as and when you like.

This is a great opportunity to get together with other members of the Cambridge community, meet other cyclists, learn more about cycling in and around Cambridge, and spend quality time with friends and family.

The event is free and open to all ages and abilities.

Notes and information

This ride is around 6.5km (4 miles) and mostly on off-road paths. Camcycle marshals will guide the route and provide extra assistance in the on-road sections in Great Shelford.

Please ensure your cycle is in good roadworthy condition.

All children under 16 should be accompanied.

Riders attend at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. Please follow the Highway Code and ride safely, legally and considerately at all times.

Bring clothing/sunscreen appropriate for the weather and some water.

Toilets are available at the Great Shelford Scout Hut – our local marshals have a key for this.

If you forget or don’t have time to bring a picnic, there is a nearby Tesco where you can pick up a sandwich. We hope to have some ice cream at the end too!
